Ashley K. Klocke, OD

Optometrist

Optometry has been a part of my life since I was young. My first experience was in the second grade when I received my first pair of glasses. My eyes kept changing as I was growing, and I kept going back to my family optometrist so I could see! I appreciated the time he took to visit with me and get to know me and my family members as well. I realized what a rewarding career this is, and as I started to choose a career path in high school, it didn't take much time to decide this was what I wanted to do.

My excitement for the profession has only grown through my education. As I started optometry school, I didn't even realize how many areas of optometry there were, and how you could really take your career in the path that gives you the most reward. With the advancements in technology and continuous research in optometry, it is a career that provides an opportunity for life-long learning.

I have been fortunate to have had great educators, mentors, and colleagues that have helped me realize there are many ways to improve my patient's quality of life, and that is the bottom line that I enjoy so much - truly making a difference in their lives.

When Dr. Klocke is not with patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband Derrick, and their two children Nora and Samuel.  They enjoy spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, or just exploring.

Drew Schwartz, OD

Optometrist

Having my father as an optometrist, I have always had eye care as a part of my life. I was lucky to be involved in the Oneota Valley Family Eye Care service trip to Panama in the summer of 2011, and ever since that experience I knew I wanted to be involved in caring for patients’ eye health.  Seeing the positive impact we had on peoples’ lives during this trip inspired me to pursue a career in optometry.

During my training in Oregon and Maine I had the opportunity to gain the most up to date education on advancements in eye care. I have been very fortunate to have worked with many leaders in the field, and through these experiences I am motivated to provide the highest level care I can for the community of Northeast Iowa.

Spending four years in Oregon and an extra year of specialty ocular disease training in Maine was an experience of a lifetime, but I am very excited to be back in the Decorah community. I am thrilled to be able to give back to a community that has given me so much, and I am honored to be a part of your health care.

Dr. Schwartz is excited to be involved in supporting Decorah school sports activities and giving back to the community. Dr. Schwartz also enjoys spending time with his wife Bretta, who was also a Decorah graduate, and daughters Aria and Ivy.
